Bio

I grew up in Glen Cove on the north shore of Long Island and now live just 15 miles or so east in Huntington Station with my wife, singer-songwriter Linda Sussman. After retiring from a career in publishing, I revived a long-dormant writing practice focused on poetry. Much of my writing is inspired by the beautiful sea and landscapes hiding beyond our busy roads and shopping centers. Writing poetry helps me to observe and think more clearly and to frame my personal experience within a more universal, sometimes humorous, context. I also do yoga, walk three to four miles a day, and read voraciously. I am happy and grateful to say that my poetry has won contests and appeared in a variety of journals and anthologies. My first full-length book of poetry, We Are Beach Glass, was published in early 2022 and a new chapbook, Disconnects and other Broken Threads, was published in March 2024 by The Poetry Box.
